Who is Elsa Hosk?
Early life and education
Elsa Hosk was born in Stockholm on November 7, 1988, to a Swedish father and a Finnish mother. She grew up in Sweden alongside her two brothers, and her family includes relatives who also work in the modeling industry.
During her high school years at Enskilda Gymnasiet, her father submitted photographs of her to various agencies in Sweden. She began modeling at age fourteen while continuing to concentrate on her academic studies.
Basketball career
After graduating from high school, Elsa chose to pursue a career in the Swedish women's basketball league. She played professional basketball in her home country for two years.
She later noted that the level of play and public interest in Sweden did not match the WNBA or the United States. However, she found that the intense practice schedule of eight sessions per week helped prepare her for the physical demands of modeling.
Rise to modeling fame
Following her basketball career, Elsa moved to New York City to model full-time after receiving numerous job offers. She built her reputation through campaigns with photographer Ellen von Unwerth for Guess and collaborations with top international brands.
She worked extensively with Victoria's Secret, appearing in annual fashion shows from 2011 to 2018 and featuring prominently in campaigns for the sub-division PINK. In 2015, she was announced as one of ten new Victoria's Secret Angels.
Career highlights
Elsa opened the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2016 and wore the Swarovski outfit the following year. In November 2018, she wore the Dream Angels Fantasy Bra in New York City, a piece designed by Atelier Swarovski and set with over two thousand diamonds.
Over the years, she has walked the runway for major design houses including Dior, Versace, Valentino, Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, and Dolce & Gabbana.
Personal life
Elsa has been in a relationship with Tom Daly since early 2015, and the couple shares two daughters born in 2021 and 2026. They announced their engagement in September 2025.
Outside of fashion, she supports the anti-human trafficking organization FAIR Girls, inspired by her viewing of the film The Whistleblower. She also stands at 176 centimeters tall.
