Playing career beginnings
Emre Belözoğlu emerged from the Galatasaray academy and made his first-team debut at age 16. During his time at the club, he won four consecutive Süper Lig titles and two Turkish Cups. He also contributed to the team's success in the 1999–2000 UEFA Cup and the 2000 UEFA Super Cup.
In 2001, he transferred to Inter Milan for a fee of £5 million. He was later voted the club's Pirata d'Oro as player of the year and helped the team reach the UEFA Champions League semi-finals. His career also included a period at Newcastle United and a brief spell at Atlético Madrid in 2012.
Fenerbahçe and international success
Emre Belözoğlu had three separate spells with Fenerbahçe. During his time with the team, he won the Süper Lig in 2010–11 and 2013–14, the 2012–13 Turkish Cup, and the 2014 Turkish Super Cup. Between 2015 and 2019, he captained İstanbul Başakşehir before returning to Fenerbahçe for a final season, retiring in 2020.

Coaching and management

His coaching career continued with managerial roles at Ankaragücü and Antalyaspor. He briefly resigned from his position at Antalyaspor in June 2025, but the decision was reversed. He was subsequently confirmed to continue his duties at the club into the 2025–26 season.
