Early life
Caroline Dorothy Grace Van Dien was born on October 15, 1996, in Los Angeles, California. She grew up in a family with deep ties to the entertainment industry, as her mother is Carrie Mitchum and her father is Casper Van Dien. She is also the great-granddaughter of classic film star Robert Mitchum. Growing up, she had various small acting roles in films directed by her father. Before pursuing a full-time acting career, she originally planned to become a writer. Her passion for acting secured while she was filming Sleeping Beauty in 2014.
On her father's side, Grace Van Dien has a mix of Dutch, Swedish, French, and English ancestry. She has several siblings, including an older brother, a half-brother, and two half-sisters. In 2005, she appeared alongside her family members in the Lifetime reality television series I Married a Princess.
Acting career
Between 2015 and 2017, Grace Van Dien appeared in several independent films, television movies, and guest-starred in programs like Code Black and White Famous. Her first major television break came when she was cast as Brooke Osmond in the Netflix teen drama series Greenhouse Academy, appearing in the first two seasons from 2017 to 2019. Following this, she portrayed Sharon Tate in the biographical film Charlie Says, which premiered at the Venice International Film Festival. In 2019, she took on the starring role of Katie Campbell in the NBC drama series The Village.
In May 2022, Grace Van Dien gained widespread international attention by guest starring in the fourth season of the popular Netflix science fiction series Stranger Things. She played Chrissy Cunningham, a troubled high school cheerleader. She later starred in Roost, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, and signed with the talent agency WME in September 2023.

In 2021, Grace Van Dien expanded her career into live streaming by launching a channel on Twitch. She quickly gained over two hundred thousand followers within her first three months on the platform. Her streams typically feature Valorant gameplay and casual chatting sessions, which she noted gives her the ability to control her own creative voice.
