Who is Grey DeLisle?
Early life and education
Grey DeLisle was born on August 24, 1973, in Fort Ord, California. Her parents were George Van Oosbree and Joanna Ruth. She grew up in a Mexican American household and attended Chula Vista High School. In her youth, she began singing old gospel tunes and entered the world of comedy on the advice of a friend. Her comedic voice impressions caught the attention of a casting director who suggested she take up voice acting.
She also pursued musical ambitions and took classes in voice overs. She soon began working with talent agent Sandy Schnarr. Her father's love of country music became a major influence on her musical taste, leading her to release several albums over the years.
Voice acting career
Grey DeLisle has voiced thousands of roles in hundreds of titles throughout her career. In the Scooby-Doo franchise, she began voicing Daphne Blake starting with the direct-to-video film Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase. She inherited this role from Mary Kay Bergman.
Her extensive voice acting credits include Emily Elizabeth Howard in Clifford the Big Red Dog, Vicky in The Fairly OddParents, Mandy in The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Frances Foster in Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Sam Manson on Danny Phantom, and Azula in Avatar: The Last Airbender. She also replaced Russi Taylor as the voice of Martin Prince and Sherri and Terri on The Simpsons.
Music and comedy work
Alongside her voice acting work, Grey DeLisle has released multiple albums as a singer-songwriter. Her musical style incorporates elements of country music and electronica. Some of her album releases include The Small Time, Homewrecker, The Graceful Ghost, and She's an Angel.
She was a contributing musical artist for the compilation album Beautiful Dreamer, which won the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Folk Album in 2005. In 2018, she released her debut comedy special titled My First Comedy Special.
Personal life and family
Grey DeLisle has been married multiple times. Her first marriage was to Christopher DeLisle in 1992, which ended in divorce. She later married Murry Hammond in 2002, and they had a son together named Tex Hammond before divorcing in 2010. She married Jared Griffin in 2012, and they had two children before their marriage also ended. She has been diagnosed with ADHD.
