Who is Ian Harding?
Early life and education
Ian Michael Harding was born on September 16, 1986, in Heidelberg, West Germany. His parents were part of an American military family stationed abroad. A few years after his birth, the family relocated to the United States and settled in Virginia.
During his high school years, Ian attended Georgetown Preparatory School located in North Bethesda, Maryland. It was here that he first became involved with the school drama club. Following high school, he pursued higher education at Carnegie Mellon University, where he successfully earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
Career on Pretty Little Liars
Ian Harding is most widely recognized for his work on the Freeform mystery drama Pretty Little Liars. The show was adapted from a book series written by Sara Shepard. He took on the role of Ezra Fitz, who served as the love interest for the character Aria Montgomery, played by Lucy Hale.
The show aired for seven years, beginning on June 8, 2010, and concluding on June 27, 2017. Throughout his time on the program, Ian achieved significant recognition for his performance. He received seven Teen Choice Awards for his portrayal of the character.
Personal life and family
In 2019, Ian Harding married Sophie Hart. The couple later welcomed their first child, a son, in September 2022.
Outside of his acting career, Ian dedicates time to supporting health causes. He works with the Lupus Foundation of America to increase awareness and funding for research regarding the disease. This commitment is personal for him, as his mother has been living with lupus for more than two decades.
