Early life
Isabeli Fontana was born in Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil, to Maribel Bergossi and Antonio Carlos Fontana. She is of Italian descent and attended a Catholic school in the Portão district of Curitiba during her youth. At the age of thirteen, she reached the finals of the 1996 Elite Model Look contest with her mother's support, finishing in third place.
Following her early success, Isabeli moved from Brazil to Milan, Italy, in 1997 to pursue a professional modeling career. She quickly began walking runways for prominent designers in Milan, making her debut at Milan Fashion Week for major fashion houses when she was only fifteen years old.

In 1999, Isabeli appeared in a Victoria's Secret lingerie catalogue at the age of sixteen. This shoot generated controversy because the company stated they would not use models younger than eighteen, but it propelled her further into the spotlight. Soon after, she was signed by Versace, Ralph Lauren, and Valentino, and she appeared in a Valentino advertising campaign photographed by Mario Testino.

Isabeli was previously married to model Álvaro Jacomossi, with whom she had a son named Zion in 2003 before their divorce in 2004. She later married actor and model Henri Castelli on December 10, 2005, and gave birth to their son Lucas in São Paulo in 2006. That marriage ended in divorce in 2007. She was subsequently engaged to Rohan Marley until their relationship ended in early 2013.
In 2021, Isabeli obtained Italian citizenship due to her Italian ancestry. Standing at a height of 177 centimeters, she continues to be recognized as one of the most successful international models from Brazil.
