Early life and background
Bryan Matthew Sevilla was born on February 7, 1986, in Los Angeles County, California, and grew up in Pasadena. His father worked as a mechanical engineer, while his mother was employed as a computer electronic engineer. One of his parents held a position at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
During his youth, James attended La Cañada High School before leaving around age 15. He experienced a period of homelessness lasting two years before returning to complete his education, graduating in 2004. At age 17, James moved in with his father, spent two years working at Starbucks, and took classes at Pasadena City College.
