Who is James Patrick Stuart?
Early life
James Patrick Stuart was born in the city of Encino in the United States on June 16, 1968. His father was the musician Chad Stuart, who was part of the British Invasion duo Chad and Jeremy. Because of his father career, James spent much of his childhood inside recording studios.
As a child, he wanted to act and convinced his parents to bring him to nighttime tapings of television sitcoms like Happy Days. He attended Laguna Beach High School after his family moved to California. Later, he studied drama for two years at San Francisco State University before moving to Hollywood to train at Stella Adler acting school.
Television and film career
James began his television career using the name Patrick Stuart after a talent agent spotted him in a local production of A Christmas Carol. He secured the role of Dr. Zee in the science fiction television series Galactica 1980. In 1989, he joined the cast of the soap opera All My Children as Will Cortlandt, which earned him a Daytime Emmy Award nomination.
He appeared in several films throughout his career, including a small part as a bellhop in the romantic comedy Pretty Woman. He portrayed Confederate Colonel Edward Porter Alexander in the historical war drama Gettysburg and later returned for its prequel Gods and Generals. In 2009, he played a plastic surgeon alongside Meryl Streep in the comedy film It Complicated.
Voice acting work
In addition to his on screen television roles, James works extensively as a voice actor for animation and video games. He provided the voice of the character Avalanche in the animated series Wolverine and the X-Men. He also voiced Private the Penguin and Joey the Kangaroo for Nickelodeon series The Penguins of Madagascar.
His voice work extends to interactive media and video game franchises. He lent his voice to the character Pvt. MacGregor in the military shooter game Call of Duty 2. Also, he provides the voice for the character Xigbar in various titles within the popular Kingdom Hearts video game series.
Personal life
James resides in Los Angeles, California, with his wife Jocelyn and their two sons. His father passed away in December 2020. He has a brother named Andrew and a half brother named Beau, along with several step siblings from his parents subsequent marriages.
