Early life
Jennie Garth: Jennifer Eve Garth was born on April 3, 1972, in Urbana, Illinois. She was the youngest of seven children born to John and Carolyn Garth. During her youth, she lived on a horse ranch in Illinois before her family eventually settled in Glendale, Arizona when she was around thirteen years old. While attending school, she studied dance and modeling.
A Hollywood scout named Randy James discovered her at a local talent competition. She attended Greenway High School before transferring to Apollo High School. She worked on audition materials with a local acting coach and left school during her junior year to move to Los Angeles to pursue acting, later earning her high school diploma in California.
Career highlights
In 1990, she secured the role of Kelly Taylor in the hit television series Beverly Hills, 90210. She appeared in all ten seasons of the show and directed two of its episodes. Her character also appeared in spin-off series including Melrose Place and 90210. Her work on the show earned her a Young Artist Award.
Following her success on Beverly Hills, 90210, she starred in various television films throughout the 1990s, such as Danielle Steel's Star and Without Consent. From 2002 to 2006, she co-starred with Amanda Bynes as Valerie Tyler in the sitcom What I Like About You. She also competed on the fifth season of Dancing with the Stars in 2007, reaching the semi-finals.
Personal life
Jennie was married to musician Daniel B. Clark from 1994 to 1996. In 1995, she met actor Peter Facinelli while filming An Unfinished Affair. They married in January 2001 and have three daughters together. Facinelli filed for divorce in March 2012, and the divorce was finalized in 2013.
She later began dating actor David Abrams, and the couple married in July 2015. They filed for divorce in 2018 before reconciling. In 2002, she was diagnosed with a mitral valve prolapse and a leaky heart valve, a condition requiring lifelong monitoring. She also published a memoir titled Deep Thoughts From a Hollywood Blonde in 2014.
