Who is Jeremy Sumpter?
Early life and background
Jeremy Sumpter was born in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. His parents are Sandy and Gary Sumpter. He has a twin sister named Jessica, along with two other siblings, Travis and Jennifer. When Jeremy was ten months old, his family relocated to Mount Sterling, Kentucky, which was his mother's hometown.
At age 11, Jeremy began participating in the International Modeling and Talent Association. He started his modeling work in Kentucky and won the Pre-Teen Male Model of the Year title. Following this success, he secured Mark Robert as his personal manager. Eventually, Jeremy and his family moved to Los Angeles, California, to pursue opportunities in the acting industry.
Acting career and major roles
Jeremy made his movie debut in the 2001 film Frailty, playing the young Adam Mieks in flashback scenes. This performance earned him a Saturn Award nomination for Best Performance by a Younger Actor. Shortly after, he appeared in the Showtime movie Just a Dream alongside Danny Glover, winning a Young Artist Award for his leading role. He also starred in the surfing drama Local Boys with Mark Harmon.
In 2002, at age 13, Jeremy was cast as Peter Pan in the 2003 film adaptation. He performed nearly all of his own stunts, which required five hours of daily sword fighting practice, along with gymnastics and weight training. While shooting in Australia, he added cricket and surfing to his preparation. During production, the actor grew several inches, requiring set adjustments to maintain the correct height difference between his character and Captain Hook.
Television and later projects
In the fall of 2004, Jeremy starred in the CBS series Clubhouse, playing a boy who works as a batboy for a professional baseball team. The network canceled the show after five episodes, though all 11 produced episodes eventually aired on cable channels. He then led the Lifetime movie Cyber Seduction: His Secret Life, which explored the dangers of internet addiction.
Jeremy spent the summer of 2005 in Oregon filming the comedy The Sasquatch Gang, which saw release in 2006. He had a minor role in the 2008 Showtime film An American Crime. Later, he appeared in an episode of the crime drama CSI: Miami. He also worked on the meteorological disaster film Into the Storm, portraying a young cameraman named Jacob Hodges. His other film credits include Calvin Marshall, Soul Surfer, and Death and Cremation.
Family and personal life
In December 2015, Jeremy announced his engagement to Lauren Pacheco, but they ended the engagement in October 2016. On October 1, 2022, he married Elizabeth Treadway during a wedding ceremony held in Columbia, Tennessee. Jeremy announced via Instagram on December 25, 2022, that he and his wife were expecting their first child. The couple welcomed a daughter on April 17, 2023.
