Early life and education
Jodie Comer was born in Liverpool, United Kingdom. She grew up in the Childwall suburb of the city. During her childhood, she attended St Julie's Catholic High School in the nearby Woolton area. She formed a close friendship there with the Olympic athlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson.
Her interest in performing began at age 11 when she joined CALS Theatre School. This weekend drama program was located in the Belle Vale Shopping Centre. While studying there, she competed in the Liverpool Performing Arts Festival at St George's Hall in 2006. She won first place in her category after delivering a monologue regarding the Hillsborough disaster.
