Early life and education
Karishma Tanna was born on December 21, 1983, in Mumbai, India. She grew up in a Gujarati family within the city. During her formative years, she attended Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai. It was here that she developed a keen interest in acting and live performances, which eventually led her to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
Television and reality show career
She started her professional acting career in 2001 with the Balaji Telefilms soap opera Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, playing the character Indu. Following this debut, she appeared in several other television shows, including Kahi To Milenge and Kkoi Dil Mein Hai, where she portrayed Krutika. She also took on the negative role of Ayesha in Ek Ladki Anjaani Si. Her versatility allowed her to work on various projects, such as the children's show Baal Veer, where she played Rani Pari.
Her reality television career became a prominent aspect of her work. She participated in Comedy Circus and Zara Nachke Dikha, winning the latter with her team. Karishma Tanna made her Hindi film debut in 2006 with Suneel Darshan's Dosti: Friends Forever, playing the role of Nandini Thapar. She also appeared in the 2013 comedy film Grand Masti. In 2018, she played a role in the Sanjay Dutt biopic Sanju, directed by Rajkumar Hirani. Her digital career includes roles in the web series Karrle Tu Bhi Mohabbat, where she played Zoya Hussain, and the series Bullets. In 2023, she received critical acclaim for her performance as a crime reporter in the Netflix series Scoop, directed by Hansal Mehta. Karishma Tanna met actor Upen Patel while they were both contestants on Bigg Boss 8 in 2014. The couple began dating and later became engaged, but they ended their relationship in 2016. In 2021, she began a relationship with Varun Bangera, a real estate businessman based in Mumbai. The couple became engaged that same year in an intimate ceremony.
