Early life and education
Karlie Kloss was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Kurt Kloss, an emergency physician, and Tracy Kloss, a freelance art director. Her family moved to St. Louis, Missouri, in 1994. She grew up with three sisters named Kristine, Kimberly, and Kariann.
She attended Webster Groves High School in Missouri, where she was a cheerleader during her first year. After graduating in 2011, she moved to New York to further her studies. In 2015, she enrolled at the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at New York University.
Modeling career highlights
After being discovered at a runway show in 2005, she began her professional career in 2006. She signed with Elite Model Management in New York shortly after her first magazine spread. By 2008, she had moved to Next Management and walked numerous shows for designers like Calvin Klein and Marc Jacobs.
