Early Life and Family
Katie Cassidy: Katherine Evelyn Anita Cassidy was born on November 25, 1986, in Los Angeles, California. She is the daughter of actor and singer David Cassidy and fashion model Sherry Williams. Her paternal grandparents were actors Jack Cassidy and Evelyn Ward, and she is related to several other figures in the entertainment industry, including her uncles Shaun, Patrick, and Ryan Cassidy.
During her youth, Katie attended Calabasas High School in California. While in school, she was a member of the competitive cheerleading team known as the California Flyers. She also signed a recording contract during her high school years and recorded a cover version of the song I Think I Love You.
Acting Career and Breakthrough
Katie made her television debut in 2003 with an appearance in the drama series The Division. She soon appeared in guest roles on programs such as 7th Heaven and Sex, Love and Secrets. In 2006, she made her film debut in the horror movie When a Stranger Calls and later starred in Black Christmas during the same year.
Her television career expanded with recurring roles in Supernatural and Gossip Girl, along with main parts in Harper's Island and Melrose Place. In 2012, Katie achieved significant recognition when she was cast as Laurel Lance, also known as Black Canary, in The CW series Arrow. She continued to portray the character across multiple shows in the Arrowverse, including The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.
Personal Life
Outside of her acting projects, Katie has worked as a spokeswoman for the charitable organization H.E.L.P. Malawi. She married Matthew Rodgers in December 2018 after announcing their engagement in June 2017. She later filed for divorce in January 2020, and the legal process was finalized in March 2021.
