Who is Kelsey Asbille?
Early life and education
Kelsey Asbille Chow was born on September 9, 1991, in Columbia, South Carolina. Her father is Jim C. Chow, a man who worked for over three decades within the United States Air National Guard and Air Force. He eventually reached the rank of brigadier general during his military career.
For her secondary education, she attended the Hammond School located in her hometown of Columbia. She later enrolled at Columbia University at age seventeen. She chose to study human rights as her major and continued pursuing her degree as of 2023.
Acting beginnings
She started her performance path by participating in local community theatre productions. These experiences helped her secure her first television opportunity in 2005. At age thirteen, she began portraying the character Gigi Silveri on the drama One Tree Hill. She remained a part of this show until 2009.
During her early career, she appeared in other television projects as well. In 2008, she made a guest appearance on The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. She also took a co-starring role in a Disney Channel film titled Den Brother.

In 2010, she joined the cast of the Disney XD series Pair of Kings, where she played the character Mikayla. She later moved into different genres, taking a minor role in the 2012 superhero film The Amazing Spider-Man. She was also cast in the feature film Run.
She appeared in the 2015 music video for the song Girls Like Girls by Hayley Kiyoko, working alongside Stefanie Scott. That same year, she joined the fifth season of the MTV series Teen Wolf as Tracy Stewart. Her performance spanned several episodes between 2015 and 2016.

In 2017, The New York Times published a profile discussing her heritage. The report stated she has Eastern Band Cherokee, British, and Taiwanese ancestry. She mentioned to the publication that taking the role of an Indigenous woman in the film Wind River felt personal to her.

Also, after an inquiry from producer Sonny Skyhawk, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians released a statement. The tribe noted she was not an enrolled member and that they possessed no documentation verifying her descent from their group.
