Who is Kim Raver?
Early life and education
Kimberly Jayne Raver was born in New York City, United States, on March 15, 1969. She grew up in New York City, where her mother raised her. As a child star, Kim Raver appeared on Sesame Street at age six and stayed on the show for three years during her early childhood.
For her education, Kim attended Northfield Mount Hermon School before studying at Boston University. She graduated from the Boston University College of Fine Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in drama. She also studied theater in New York under teacher and mentor Wynn Handman.
Acting career beginnings
When her adult career began, Kim appeared in commercials for Visa and Jeep. Her first prominent theatrical role was her Broadway debut in 1995 in the Philip Barry play Holiday, acting alongside Laura Linney and Tony Goldwyn. She also appeared in the feature film City Hall with Al Pacino and took part in a production of The Glimmer Brothers at the Williamstown Theatre Festival.
Kim gained wider recognition when she was cast as Kim Zambrano in the television series Third Watch, appearing on the show from 1999 to 2005. Following her time on Third Watch, she joined the cast of the thriller series 24 as Audrey Raines and remained a series regular for two seasons.
Television roles and Grey's Anatomy
In 2008, Kim starred as magazine editor-in-chief Nico Reilly in the NBC drama series Lipstick Jungle, which was adapted from a novel by Candace Bushnell. She later returned to the role of Audrey Raines in the twelve-episode television event 24: Live Another Day in 2014, and she made a guest appearance on the premiere of Bones in 2015.
Kim joined the medical drama Grey's Anatomy during its sixth season in 2009 as cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Teddy Altman. After leaving the show in 2012, she returned to the role for its fourteenth season in 2017 and became a series regular again starting with the fifteenth season. Her television work also includes recurring roles on The Nine, Ray Donovan, and Designated Survivor.
Personal life
Kim married director and writer Manuel Boyer in the year 2000. Together, the couple has two sons.
