Who is Lena Gercke?
Early life and background
Lena Johanna Gercke was born in Marburg, Germany, and grew up in Cloppenburg. During her school years, she attended Liebfrauenschule Cloppenburg, which is a Roman Catholic Gymnasium, and she completed her Abitur there in 2007. Growing up, she developed an interest in playing chess as an amateur.
She shares her family background with a sister and two paternal half-sisters. Her early years laid the foundation for her later entry into the fashion and modeling industries.
Modeling career beginnings
In August 2004, Lena Gercke won a casting call for the fast-food chain Burger King, which marked an early step in her professional path. She was represented by Langer-Pueschel, an agency that booked her for various photo shoots, catwalk shows, and dance performances.
Her career gained significant momentum at the beginning of 2006 when she attended a casting call for the first season of Germany's Next Topmodel, hosted by Heidi Klum. Upon winning the competition, she secured an advertising contract with the fashion label OuiSet, a modeling contract with IMG Models in Paris, and a cover shoot for the June 2006 issue of German Cosmopolitan.
Television career
In addition to her print modeling work with brands like H&M, Mexx, and Geox, Lena Gercke expanded into television hosting and judging roles. In 2013, she became a judge on the talent show Das Supertalent, where her sister later made a surprise audition appearance in 2014.
She hosted the primetime hidden camera show Prankenstein in 2015. From 2015 until 2021, she presented The Voice of Germany on ProSieben and Sat.1 alongside Thore Schölermann, and from 2018 they also presented The Voice Senior on Sat.1.
