Early life and background
Ludivine Sagnier was born on July 3, 1979, in La Celle-Saint-Cloud, France, and spent her childhood growing up in Sèvres. Her mother worked as a secretary before retiring, while her father taught English as a professor at the University of Paris. She grew up alongside her sister, Delphine. During her childhood, she underwent abdominal surgery to remove a benign intestinal tumor and later recovered from a bout of meningitis.
As a young girl, she took piano lessons because of her family's strong musical background. However, she disliked playing the instrument and asked to take acting classes instead as a way to escape music theory. During one of these classes, she was noticed for a casting call and successfully accepted the part, which eventually set her on the path toward a professional acting career.

She made her official film debut at the age of nine in the feature Les Maris, les Femmes, les Amants under the direction of Pascal Thomas. Her work in the psychological thriller Swimming Pool brought her significant international media attention. Shortly after, she took on the role of Tinker Bell in the live action film adaptation of Peter Pan. Though she was initially brought in simply to provide visual effects inspiration for a computer-generated model, her performance deeply impressed the production team and secured her the physical role.

Ludivine Sagnier gave birth to her first daughter in 2005 with her then boyfriend, actor Nicolas Duvauchelle. She is currently in a relationship with director Kim Chapiron, with whom she shares two daughters. Alongside her acting projects, she has taught acting courses at the École Kourtrajmé, helping students from disadvantaged backgrounds build careers in the film industry.
