Early life in Northern Ireland
Michelle Fairley was born in Coleraine, Northern Ireland, on January 17, 1964. She was the second oldest of six children born to Brian and Teresa Fairley. Her father worked as a publican and managed several off-licences in the area.
During the period known as The Troubles in Northern Ireland, her father owned Fairley's Bar. Michelle remembers seeing both Catholics and Protestants visiting the establishment during those difficult times. She eventually moved to London in 1986 to pursue her acting career.
