Who is Minissha Lamba?
Early life and education
Minissha Lamba was born in New Delhi, India. She was raised in a Punjabi Sikh family by her parents, Kawel Lamba and Manju Lamba. She spent time in Chennai attending Chettinad Vidyashram School before eventually moving to Srinagar.
In Srinagar, she attended the Army Public School to finish her schooling requirements. Later, she moved to Delhi to pursue higher education. She enrolled at Miranda House, which is part of the University of Delhi. While studying there, she focused on an English Honors degree.
Career beginnings
While she was still a college student at Delhi University, Minissha Lamba started a modeling career. She appeared in advertising campaigns for various well-known brands, including Airtel, Sony, Cadbury, and LG. She was also featured in a promotional project for Femina.
During a shoot for a Cadbury commercial, she met director Shoojit Sircar. He cast her in his movie Yahaan, which was released in 2005. She began working on this film while still finishing her studies at Miranda House.
Film and television roles
Following her debut, she appeared in several movies including Corporate, Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd., and Shaurya. In 2008, she acted in the romantic comedy Bachna Ae Haseeno, which was produced by Yash Raj Films. That same year, she had a role in the film Kidnap.
She later worked with director Shyam Benegal on the film Well Done Abba in 2010. The movie received the National Film Award for Best Film on Social Issues that year. She also appeared in the music video for Himesh Reshammiya's song Tera Surroor. In 2014, she joined the cast of the reality show Bigg Boss 8, where she remained for six weeks.
Theatre and personal life
Minissha Lamba expanded her career into theatre in 2018. She performed in the play Mirror Mirror, which was directed by Saif Hyder Hasan. The following year, she acted in the stage production Hello Zindagi, directed by Raman Kumar.
In her personal life, she married restaurateur Ryan Tham in July 2015. He is the owner of a nightclub called Trilogy. The couple ended their marriage in August 2020. In July 2021, she publicly shared that she was in a relationship with businessman Akash Malik.
