Who is Nico Paz?
Early life and background
Nico Paz was born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands. He grew up with a Spanish mother and an Argentine father. His father, Pablo Paz, previously represented Argentina at the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France.
The footballer joined the Real Madrid youth academy, known as La Fábrica, in 2016. During his time in the academy, he transitioned through various positions on the pitch. He started his development as a central defender before moving to a centre forward role. He eventually played on the wing for the under-19 side before settling into his current roles.
Club career highlights
He made his professional debut for Real Madrid Castilla in January 2022. Later that year, he moved up to the senior Real Madrid squad. He made his first-team and Champions League debut against Braga in November 2023. During his tenure with the club, he scored his first Champions League goal against Napoli.
In August 2024, Nico Paz signed a four-year contract with the Serie A club Como. He quickly became a key player for the team, wearing the number 10 shirt. During the 2025-26 season, he scored 12 goals and helped the club qualify for the Champions League for the first time in its history.
International career
Nico Paz has represented both Spain and Argentina at the youth levels. He was a member of the Argentina under-20 squad during the 2022 Maurice Revello Tournament. Although he was included in the preliminary squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, he did not play in the final tournament.
His senior international debut for Argentina occurred in October 2024 during a World Cup qualifying match against Bolivia. He recorded an assist in that game. In March 2026, he scored his first international goal via a free kick against Mauritania.
