Early life and background
Olivia Holt was born in Germantown, United States, on August 5, 1997. Her parents are Mark and Kim Holt, and she grew up with two siblings in the United States. During her childhood, her family moved to Nesbit, Mississippi, after a brief stay in Memphis, Tennessee. In 2011, she relocated to Los Angeles with her family to pursue her career.
She attended Oak Park High School, where she graduated in 2015 after spending a portion of her education being homeschooled. Before landing prominent television roles, she built her early performance background by participating in local theater productions and appearing in various television commercials for brands such as Hasbro, Mattel, and Bratz dolls.
Television and film career
Olivia gained widespread recognition for portraying Kim Crawford in the Disney XD martial arts comedy series Kickin' It, which premiered in June 2011. She remained a main cast member through the first three seasons and later returned as a guest star in the fourth season. Following this role, she starred as Skylar Lewis in the Disney Channel Original Movie Girl vs. Monster.
She continued her television work by starring as Lindy Watson in the Disney Channel comedy series I Didn't Do It, which ran for two seasons until October 2015. Later, she expanded into dramatic television by portraying Tandy Bowen, also known as Dagger, in the Freeform and Marvel Comics series Cloak & Dagger. Her character also crossed over into the animated series Spider-Man and the series Runaways. In addition, she portrayed Kate Wallis in the psychological thriller series Cruel Summer.
Music and stage work
Alongside her acting pursuits, Olivia developed a career in music as a singer and songwriter. She recorded multiple tracks for the film Girl vs. Monster and won a Radio Disney Music Award for her song Had Me @ Hello. In October 2014, she signed a recording contract with Hollywood Records and subsequently released her debut extended play, titled Olivia, in July 2016.
Her single Generous reached the top position on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. She later started on her first concert tour, known as the Rise of a Phoenix Tour. Expanding her talents to the stage, she made her Broadway debut in April 2023 playing the character Roxie Hart in the musical Chicago, and later joined the cast of Just in Time on Broadway as Connie Francis.
