Who is Peter Krause?
Early life and education
Peter William Krause was born in Alexandria, Minnesota, on August 12, 1965. His parents, Wanda and William Krause, both worked as teachers. He grew up in Roseville, a suburb of St. Paul, alongside his siblings, Amy and Michael. During his high school years at Alexander Ramsey High School, he participated in gymnastics and track and field. He graduated from high school in 1983.
He initially attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter as a pre-med student. During his junior year, he discovered a passion for acting and shifted his focus to English Literature. He performed in several college productions, including Cloud 9 and The Dumb Waiter. After earning his degree in 1987, he moved to New York City to attend the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. He completed his Master of Fine Arts in acting there in 1990. While in New York, he worked as a bartender at the Palace Theatre.
Television and film career
Peter Krause made his feature film debut in the 1987 slasher movie Blood Harvest. Shortly after finishing his graduate studies, he relocated to Los Angeles. His first television work included roles in the comedy anthology series Carol & Company from 1990 to 1991. Throughout the early 1990s, he took on parts in shows like Seinfeld, Ellen, and Beverly Hills, 90210. He also appeared in a recurring role on the sitcom Cybill for four seasons starting in 1996.
He gained wider recognition for playing Casey McCall on the ABC comedy Sports Night, which aired from 1998 to 2000. Following this, he starred as funeral director Nate Fisher in the HBO drama Six Feet Under between 2001 and 2005. This role earned him multiple award nominations, including three for the Primetime Emmy Awards. He later played Nick George in the drama Dirty Sexy Money from 2007 to 2009 and Adam Braverman in the NBC series Parenthood, which ran from 2010 to 2015.
Personal life
Peter Krause has a son born in 2001 from his relationship with Christine King. Later, he began a relationship with actress Lauren Graham in 2010. The two first met while working on the sitcom Caroline in the City in 1995 and later reconnected as co-stars on the show Parenthood. It was reported in June 2022 that the couple had ended their relationship the previous year.
