Who is Piper Perabo?
Early life and education
Piper Perabo was born in Dallas, Texas. She grew up in Toms River, New Jersey. Her father, George William Perabo, taught poetry at Ocean County College. Her mother, Mary Charlotte, worked as a physical therapist. Piper has two brothers named Noah and Adam. She was named after the actress Piper Laurie.
Her father is of English, German, and Irish descent. Her mother is Norwegian. People sometimes mistakenly call her surname Portuguese. She finished high school at Toms River High School North in 1994. Later, she went to Ohio University and earned a degree in theater in 1998.
How Piper became famous
Piper started her acting path in New York City. A casting director named Denise Fitzgerald noticed her during an audition for someone else. Although she did not get that part, Fitzgerald helped her find an agent. After college, Piper worked as a waitress while studying at the La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club.
Her first movie role was in the comedy Whiteboyz. She became widely known in 2000 for the film Coyote Ugly. In this movie, she played Violet Sanford. This role won her an MTV Movie Award for Best Music Moment. She later appeared as FBI agent Karen Sympathy in The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle.
Career highlights
Piper focused on independent cinema for a while. She starred in the Canadian drama Lost and Delirious in 2001. She also played a French student in the movie She Gets What She Wants. In 2003, she joined the cast of Cheaper by the Dozen as Nora Baker and returned for the 2005 sequel.
Other films include The Prestige and Looper. She was in The I Inside and The Cave. She also appeared in the film Angel Has Fallen in 2019. Her television career grew with the series Covert Affairs. She played CIA agent Annie Walker from 2010 to 2014.

Piper married director Stephen Kay on July 26, 2014. They wed in New York City. She is the stepmother to Kay's daughter, Lilli. Beside acting, she is a business owner. She co-owns the restaurant Jack's Wife Freda and a bar called Employees Only.
She has been close friends with Lena Headey since 2005. They worked together on The Cave and Imagine Me & You. She is an active political advocate. Piper serves on the advisory board for VoteRunLead and The Hometown Project.
