Early life and background
Robin Miriam Carlsson was born on June 12, 1979, in Stockholm. She grew up in the Maria Magdalena parish in Sweden. Her parents worked together leading an independent theatre group called Scheherazade. This upbringing influenced how she views clothing and personal expression.
She has two younger siblings, including Effie Karabuda. Her father is Wilhelm Carlsson and her mother is Maria Ericson. During her youth, she voiced the character Miranda in the 1989 animated film The path to Melonia. In 1991, she recorded the theme song for the Swedish show Lilla Sportspegeln at age 12.
Music career beginnings
Robyn began her professional music path at age 15. She signed with RCA Records in 1994 and released her debut single in Sweden. Her first album, Robyn Is Here, arrived in October 1995. This record featured the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 hits Do You Know (What It Takes) and Show Me Love.
In the late 1990s, she released My Truth in 1999 and Don't Stop the Music in 2002. These albums were released in Sweden and parts of Europe.
