Who is Song Yuqi?
Early life and education
Song Yuqi was born in Beijing, China, on September 23, 1999. She completed her schooling at the Beijing 101 Middle School.
Before her rise to prominence in the music industry, she participated in the Cube Star World Audition held in Beijing in 2015. During this audition, she performed songs by CLC and G.E.M. To show her vocal talents.
Rise to fame with I-dle
In April 2018, it was revealed that Song would join the new girl group formed by Cube Entertainment. She debuted as a member of I-dle in May 2018, with the lead single titled Latata from their debut extended play I Am.
As a member of the group, Song has contributed significantly to their musical output. She has participated in writing and composing several tracks, including Lost from the I Burn EP and the tracks Polaroid and Liar from the studio album I Never Die. In 2021, she also released her own single album titled A Page, which featured the lead singles Giant and Bonnie & Clyde. She continued this momentum with her first EP titled Yuq1 in 2024, which included the lead single Freak.

Beyond her music career, Song Yuqi has appeared on many television programs. She became a regular cast member for the seventh season of the Chinese variety show Keep Running in 2019. Her work in television also includes hosting the KakaoTV reality show Learn Way between 2020 and 2021.
Her television appearances are diverse, ranging from survival programs to travel shows. She was a contestant on the music talent show Stage Boom in 2021 and appeared on the reality show I'm a Survivor. She also acted in the Netflix original series Celebrity, where she played the role of a Chinese influencer named Zhang Wei. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her entertainment sense and her ability to speak Korean fluently.

Song has worked with numerous brands throughout her career. In 2019, she was introduced as a model for the beauty brand Vivlas. By 2021, her popularity led to collaborations with various Chinese companies, including the sparkling alcohol brand Momenten, the jewelry brand Limeflare, and the cosmetics company Carslan.
In later years, her portfolio of endorsements expanded globally. She has served as a brand ambassador for Fendi and the clothing company Dekavv.
