Early life and real name
Steven R. McQueen Chadwick McQueen was born in Los Angeles, United States, on July 13, 1988. His parents are Stacey Toten and race car driver Chad McQueen. His paternal grandparents are actor Steve McQueen and actress Neile Adams. His stepfather is former ice hockey player Luc Robitaille, whose surname inspired Steven's professional stage name.
During his mid-teens, Steven moved between various cities with his parents, including living in Detroit. While living there, he was home-schooled and began watching movies, which sparked his passion for acting. He eventually moved back to Los Angeles to take acting classes and pursue a career in film and television.
How Steven became famous
Steven made his television debut in September 2005 at the age of 17 on the CBS science fiction drama Threshold. He subsequently guest-starred on other television series such as Numb3rs, Without a Trace, and CSI: Miami. He also played Kyle Hunter for seven episodes of the final season of the drama Everwood from 2005 to 2006.
In January 2008, he made his feature film debut in the Disney Channel Original Movie Minutemen, playing the villainous role of Derek Beaugard. His breakout television role came in 2009 when he was cast as Jeremy Gilbert in The CW fantasy supernatural drama series The Vampire Diaries.

Steven comes from a large blended family with several siblings and half-siblings, including Chase, Madison, and Jesse. He has described a close relationship with both his biological father and his stepfather, noting that his stepfather played a significant parental role in his daily upbringing.
