Who is Steven Seagal?
Early life and real name
Steven Frederic Seagal was born on April 10, 1952, in Lansing, Michigan. His mother, Patricia Anne Fisher, worked as a medical technician, and his father, Samuel Seagal, worked as a mathematics teacher. When he was five years old, Steven moved with his family to Fullerton, California. He attended Buena Park High School and later went to Fullerton College.
During his youth, Steven moved to Japan where he lived for a period and operated an aikido dojo. He eventually returned to the United States to pursue other ventures and later began working in the film industry as a fight coordinator and actor.
Acting career and films
Steven Seagal made his feature film acting debut in the nineteen eighty-eight action movie Above the Law. The film was a box office success and introduced aikido fight sequences to American cinema. Following this project, Steven starred in several more box office hits, including Hard to Kill, Marked for Death, and Out for Justice.
In nineteen ninety-two, Steven achieved mainstream success by starring as Casey Ryback in Under Siege, a film directed by Andrew Davis that became one of his most popular projects. He later reprised this role in the sequel Under Siege 2: Dark Territory. In nineteen ninety-four, Steven made his directorial debut with the film On Deadly Ground. Over the years, he has appeared in numerous other productions, including the film Machete and the reality television series Steven Seagal: Lawman.
Martial arts and music
Steven Seagal is a seventh-dan black belt and shihan in Aikikai aikido. He spent years living and teaching martial arts in Japan, where he became the first non-Japanese person to operate an aikido dojo. Later in his career, he also assisted in training other martial artists, such as mixed martial artist Lyoto Machida.
In addition to his work in film and martial arts, Steven is a guitarist and singer. He has released two studio albums titled Songs from the Crystal Cave and Mojo Priest. He also contributed musical performances to the soundtracks of several of his own motion pictures and collaborated with other musicians.

Steven Seagal has been married multiple times throughout his life. His spouses include Miyako Fujitani, Adrienne La Russa, Kelly Le Brock, and Erdenetuya Batsukh. Through his marriages and relationships, he became a father to children including Kentaro Seagal, Ayako Fujitani, and Arissa LeBrock.
Outside of the entertainment industry, Steven has been involved in various personal interests and advocacy work. He has supported environmental and animal rights causes. Over the course of his career, he has also received citizenship from countries like Russia and Serbia, and was appointed as a special envoy.
