Who is Tamta?
Early life and upbringing
Tamta Goduadze was born and raised in Tbilisi, Georgia. She began singing at the age of five. By the time she was fourteen, she married a sixteen-year-old boyfriend and gave birth to her daughter, Annie. During her early years as a parent, she completed her high school education and studied at Tbilisi State University.
Eventually, she chose to leave Georgia and moved to Greece to join her mother and younger brother, who had previously relocated there for work. Before establishing her career, she supported herself by working as a housekeeper in Athens.
Career beginnings
While working in Athens, she received a recommendation to audition for the reality competition Super Idol. She entered the show in 2003, which helped her secure a residence permit. Her performance skills helped her reach the finale, where she finished as the runner-up. Following this initial exposure, she signed a contract with the record label Minos EMI.
Her debut single, Eisai To Allo Mou Miso, launched in 2004. By 2006, she released her self-titled studio album and received an award for Best New Artist at the Mad Video Music Awards.
Eurovision and music milestones
Throughout her career, she participated in several national selection processes for the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2007, she competed with the track With Love, which peaked at number two on the Greek charts. She later represented Cyprus in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Replay. Her performance earned her thirteenth place with a total of 109 points.
Beyond her contest entries, she released numerous albums including Agapise Me, Tharros I Alitheia, and the EP Awake. She has collaborated with various artists such as Sakis Rouvas, Claydee, and Snik.
Television and theater
Beyond the recording studio, she established herself as a mentor on television talent programs. She appeared as a judge on X Factor Georgia during several seasons, including 2014, 2015, and 2018. Also, she lent her expertise as a judge for The X Factor Greece in 2016 and 2017.
Her professional range extends into the performing arts, having appeared in the Greek version of the musical Rent in 2010. She also played the role of Sally Bowles in a production of Cabaret during the 2017-2018 season. In 2018, she expanded her professional portfolio by releasing a clothing collection in collaboration with the brand Atrattivo.
Personal life
Tamta became a Greek citizen in 2022. She is multilingual, possessing fluency in Georgian, Greek, Russian, and English. Her personal life has seen various relationships, including a partnership with Grigoris Petrakos that lasted from 2004 until 2010. Since the beginning of 2015, she has been in a relationship with Paris Kassidokostas-Latsis.
