Early life and background
Tara Leniston was born on May 1, 1983. Her birthplace is Crawley, Ireland, though she grew up in County Clare. During her youth, she also lived in Korea, Sweden, and Hong Kong. Her father Greg worked as a senior manager with Baltimore Technologies, which caused the family to travel abroad frequently.
In 1995, Tara began her acting career while living in Seoul by appearing in a Korean kids television program titled Whats up Doogie. A year later, her family relocated to London. In London, Tara attended The Arts Educational School, where she spent two years studying drama.
Career highlights
After completing her drama studies, Tara moved to Hong Kong and worked as a television presenter for MTV's Channel V. While living there, she met Jackie Chan. She became the first western female to be trained and signed by the Jackie Chan group, an organization set up for individuals with exceptional talent. This affiliation led to a role in Jackie Chan's film The Medallion.
In 2003, Tara moved to New Zealand to star in her first motion picture, Meet Me in Miami. She acted alongside Latin actors Carlos Ponce and Eduardo Verastegui in the film. The premiere took place in Houston during the summer of 2006 as part of the Giving Hope tour to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina. Beyond film work, she has appeared in short films, commercials, and modelling campaigns for major brands such as Ralph Lauren, The North Face, and Loreal hair care. She also took on the role of female lead and co producer in the Irish film Danny Boy.
