Who is Tasha Ghouri?
Early life and real name
Natasha Amber Ghouri was born in Thirsk. Tasha Ghouri is British and has been deaf since birth. She used British Sign Language as her first form of communication. Before her fifth birthday, she received a cochlear implant at Bradford Royal Infirmary. This device failed internally when she was sixteen. She spent five months without a replacement. Tasha later used speech therapy to help her speak. She has Indian and Pakistani descent. Her brother shares this heritage.
Education and dance training
Tasha started ballet lessons at age three. She attended Thirsk Primary School and CAPA College. She also studied at Creative Academy in Slough. Tasha trained in commercial streetstyle dance. After her studies, she moved to London. She worked as a self employed dancer behind a bar. She also signed with a modeling agency. Tasha spent six months living in France during this period. She grew up replicating dance moves from the Steps album Gold.
Television career
Tasha Ghouri joined the eighth series of Love Island in 2022. She was the first deaf person to appear on the show. She spent 58 days in the villa. Tasha and Andrew Le Page finished in joint fourth place. In 2024, she appeared as a guest on the show Countdown in Dictionary Corner. She later joined the 22nd series of Strictly Come Dancing. Tasha partnered with Aljaž Škorjanec and became the runner up. She also appeared in the 2025 edition of Strictly Come Dancing Live.
Writing and media projects
Tasha released a book titled Hits Different in June 2024. She co wrote the novel with Lizzie Huxley Jones. The story follows a deaf dancer pursuing her dreams. Tasha also started a podcast called Superpowers with Tasha. In this show, she discusses disabilities as superpowers. She posted a viral video on TikTok in 2024 showing her deaf accent. This video reached nearly 3 million views. She also taught a tap class in Cambridge with Johannes Radebe. Queen Camilla attended this class.
Brand partnerships
Tasha Ghouri has worked as an ambassador for several brands. She was the first pre loved ambassador for eBay in 2022. She sold a 60 item collection to benefit the Royal National Institute for Deaf People. She also worked with L'Oréal and Cadbury Fingers. Tasha promoted the Luminescent collection for Ann Summers. She has also partnered with Lullabellz and Sisters & Seekers. In 2024, she participated in a government campaign to fight loneliness with people like Bobby Brazier.
Personal life
Tasha dated Giovanni Pernice starting in January 2022. The pair met through Instagram. She later lived in an East London apartment with Andrew Le Page in September 2022. In June 2023, they adopted a Spanish Podenco mix called Luna. Tasha has spoken about how lip reading causes her exhaustion and migraines. This sensory overload sometimes requires her to stay in bed for days to recuperate. She previously auditioned for the movie Barbie as a dancer.
