Who is Tatiana von Fürstenberg?
Early life and education
Tatiana von Fürstenberg was born on February 16, 1971, in New York City. Her parents are fashion designers Prince Egon von Fürstenberg and Diane von Fürstenberg. She has an older brother named Prince Alexander von Fürstenberg. Her mother released a perfume named Tatiana when she was six years old.
She attended Cranborne Chase School before studying modern culture and media, comparative literature, and education at Brown University. After graduating in 1991, she completed graduate work in applied psychology at New York University.
Film and music career
In 1992, Tatiana appeared in Madonna's book Sex and the music video for the single Erotica. That same year, she made cameo appearances in the films Light Sleeper and Bram Stoker's Dracula. She also worked as a photographer's model for Richard Avedon.
She co-wrote, co-directed, and produced the 2009 film Tanner Hall alongside Francesca Gregorini. The film won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Feature at the Gen Art Film Festival. She also directed the short films Tyrolean Riviera and path of the Dress, and she played the character Pearl in Tependris Rising. Also, she served as a producer for the drama thriller film The Truth About Emanuel.
Art and community projects
Tatiana worked at Steinberg and Sons to launch a west coast branch for the New York company, helping independent designers find spaces to sell their work. She also served as a co-curator at the Alleged Gallery in New York City and as a director for The Diller von Furstenberg Family Foundation.
In 2016, she collaborated with the grassroots organization Black and Pink to create an art exhibit titled On The Inside. The exhibit highlighted work by incarcerated LGBTQ artists and brought awareness to the dangers and issues LGBTQ inmates face in prison. The show featured an interactive element allowing viewers to text the artists.
Personal life and family
In 2000, Tatiana dated actor and writer Russell Steinberg, and they had a daughter named Antonia. The couple married two years later and eventually divorced in 2014. In 2010, she had an editing studio built in her Los Feliz home and also acquired Norman Mailer's former home in Provincetown.
