Early life and family
Téa Leoni was born Elizabeth Téa Pantaleoni on February 25, 1966, in New York City. Her father, Anthony Pantaleoni, worked as a corporate lawyer. Her mother, Emily Ann, worked as a nutritionist and dietitian.
The actress grew up between New York City and Englewood, New Jersey. She attended the Brearley School and The Putney School in Vermont. She also attended Sarah Lawrence College but did not finish her studies there.
How Téa became famous
Téa began her television career with roles in the sitcoms Flying Blind and The Naked Truth. Her major breakthrough occurred in 1995 when she starred in the action comedy film Bad Boys. This performance helped establish her as a leading lady in Hollywood.
Following that success, she appeared in several major motion pictures. These included the disaster film Deep Impact, the romantic comedy The Family Man, and the science fiction movie Jurassic Park III. She also starred in Spanglish and Fun with Dick and Jane.

After her marriage to Duchovny, she began dating her Madam Secretary co-star Tim Daly in late 2014. The two performers married in New York on July 12, 2025. They are both graduates of The Putney School.
