Who is Terry O'Quinn?
Early life and name change
Terry O'Quinn was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, at War Memorial Hospital. He grew up in the nearby town of Newberry as one of 11 children. His family background includes Irish heritage and a Catholic upbringing.
During his college years, he attended Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant and later the University of Iowa. While studying at Central Michigan University, he was roommates with actor Brad Slaight. He originally used the name Terrance Quinn for his professional work. He eventually switched to O'Quinn because another actor was already registered under the name Terrance Quinn.
How Terry became famous
His breakout moment came when he starred as the title character in the film The Stepfather. This role as Jerry Blake earned him critical praise and a nomination for a Saturn Award. He also received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for this performance.
