Early life and career beginnings
Thomas Ian Nicholas was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, in the United States. His mother worked as a professional dancer and an acting school administrator during his childhood. Early in his career, he made guest appearances on several television shows, including Who's the Boss?, Married... With Children, and Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.
He soon transitioned into film work, landing his breakthrough movie role as Henry Rowengartner in the sports comedy film Rookie of the Year in 1993. Following that project, he secured another lead part in the feature film A Kid in King Arthur's Court in 1995.
Rise to fame in film and television
Thomas Ian Nicholas achieved major recognition when he was cast as Kevin Meyers in the theatrical comedy film American Pie in 1999. He reprised this famous character across the entire four-film theatrical franchise through 2012.
In addition to his film success, he took on television work with a recurring role as Todd Marsh on the Fox drama series Party of Five in 2000. He also appeared in horror and drama films such as Halloween: Resurrection and The Rules of Attraction in 2002.
Diverse acting and music projects
Thomas Ian Nicholas portrayed real-life figures in several dramatic projects, playing Frank Sinatra Jr. In Stealing Sinatra in 2003 and Walt Disney in the biographical film Walt Before Mickey in 2015. He also joined the ensemble cast of Please Give in 2010, which earned an Independent Spirit Robert Altman Award. Also, he starred in the action thriller Adverse, which was released by Lionsgate in 2021.
Alongside his extensive acting profession, he established a career as a musician and singer in the pop rock genre. He self-released his debut studio album, Without Warning, in 2008 and followed it with several additional albums and extended plays, including Security and a self-titled EP that featured the single My Generation.
Personal life and family
Thomas Ian Nicholas married Colette Marino, professionally known as DJ Colette, in the year 2007. The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Nolan Nicholas, in 2011. They later welcomed their second child, a daughter, in April 2016.
After more than a decade of marriage, Colette filed for divorce from Thomas Ian Nicholas in May 2022.
