Who is TJ Kirk?
Early life and real name
Thomas James Kirk III was born on February 20, 1985, in Pasadena. He previously used the pseudonym Terroja Lee Kincaid. His father was Thomas James Kirk Jr., who lived from 1946 to 2008. The elder Kirk ran several fraudulent higher education organizations. He served three years in U.S. Federal prison after a plea deal. TJ left high school at sixteen because he wanted to be an author.
YouTube and podcasting
TJ Kirk began posting on YouTube in November 2006. His channel was originally called The Amazing Atheist. It became popular during the 2010s for criticizing religion. He later expanded his content to cover social and political issues. His main channel once exceeded one million subscribers and reached 445 million total views.
From 2014 until 2017, TJ co-hosted a YouTube news podcast called Drunken Peasants. The show centered on current events and interviews. In 2016, he interviewed Milo Yiannopoulos. In 2007, TJ posted a video warning about the mental instability of Pekka-Eric Auvinen. Auvinen later committed the Jokela school shooting. In October 2011, a video of TJ engaging in a sex act with a banana leaked on 4chan. He released a video called Bananagate 2011 to address the leak. He stated he enjoyed the activity and felt no shame.
In 2012, he faced criticism for comments on Reddit. He told a rape victim that they should be raped again. Science blogger PZ Myers condemned the posts. TJ apologized to the user privately and then publicly. He explained the remarks as satirical commentary in a 2014 video. In 2018, he criticized Alicia Vikander's breasts for her role in Tomb Raider.
