Early life and schooling
Whitney Able was born in Houston, Texas. She grew up with two brothers. During her youth, she attended the St. Andrew's-Sewanee School. She has spent time living in Mexico and Spain, which fostered an appreciation for the Spanish language.
Acting beginnings
Her professional career started in 2005 with a performance in the low-budget movie Age of Kali. Shortly after, she played a character named Eve in the 2006 direct-to-DVD project Dead Lenny.
She secured a role in the pilot for the series Secrets of a Small Town, though the American Broadcasting Company did not order the show to series. She also appeared in the television program Rodney.
Breakthrough and filmography
The actress reached a turning point in 2006 with the horror film All the Boys Love Mandy Lane. In this production, she played a cheerleader named Chloe alongside Amber Heard. Critics gave the film mixed reviews.
She later acted in guest roles for television shows such as Cold Case and CSI: New York. She continued working in the horror genre with the film Unearthed, where she played the character Ally. This project was included in the 8 Films to Die For festival. Other direct-to-DVD projects during this period included Love and Mary and strong Power.
Later projects and career
In 2010, Whitney Able landed a leading role in the independent science fiction horror production titled Monsters. The film received critical praise. That same year, she also appeared in Tales of an Ancient Empire.
She earned a spot on the 2008 Maxim magazine Hot 100 list at number 83. In 2015, she worked on the independent thriller Dark, which was directed by Nick Basile. She returned to short film in 2021 with We Won't Forget. Directed by Lucas Elliot Eberl and Edgar Morais, the story follows a woman hosting a party for her friends. She co-wrote the script with the two directors, and the project had its world premiere at the Palm Springs International ShortFest.
Personal life
Whitney Able married fellow actor Scoot McNairy in June 2010. The couple has two children together. On November 19, 2019, it was publicly announced that she and McNairy had finalized their divorce.
