Who is Willy Moon?
Early life and real name
William George Sinclair was born on June 2, 1989, in Wellington, New Zealand. He attended Wellington High School during his youth. He left school at the age of sixteen and chose to leave his home country at the age of eighteen.
Following his departure from New Zealand, he spent time living in Berlin before eventually relocating to London, United Kingdom. Since 2014, he has made his home in New York City.
How Willy became famous
In 2010, Willy published his first song titled I Wanna Be Your Man on Myspace. This platform helped him gain attention and secure a record deal with Island Records. He subsequently released his initial two singles through Luv Luv Luv Records.
His distinct production style drew considerable attention from music publications. He was named a One to Watch by The Guardian and recognized as one of the Faces of 2012 by Q magazine. Publications like Vogue and Elle also featured him in their editorial profiles.

In 2015, Willy served as a judge and mentor on The X Factor New Zealand alongside his wife. Both judges were dismissed from the program following the first live screening due to harsh comments directed at a contestant named Joe Irvine. The incident drew widespread criticism across social media and public disapproval from the show sponsors and franchise owners.
In early 2016, he formed a new musical band named Cruel Youth with his wife Natalia Kills. The group released several tracks through digital platforms, including Mr. Watson, Diamond Days, and Hatefuck, alongside their debut extended play titled +30mg in September 2016.

In May 2014, Willy married singer Natalia Kills in New York City. Years later, in May 2021, the couple experienced a major personal loss when an apartment fire destroyed their home and all of their personal belongings.
