Who is Ximena Navarrete?
Early life and education
Ximena Navarrete was born in Guadalajara, the capital city of Jalisco, Mexico. She grew up in a middle-class household. Her father, Carlos Navarrete, worked as a dentist, while her mother, Gabriela Rosette, was a housewife. Ximena is one of two children and has a younger sister.
She began her modeling career locally at the age of sixteen. Before pursuing pageantry on a global stage, she studied nutrition at the Valle de Atemajac University. In 2012, she participated in a genetic study that identified her maternal lineage as haplogroup J.
Rise to fame
Her path to international fame began with regional competitions. On July 16, 2009, she earned the title of Nuestra Belleza Jalisco in her hometown. Shortly after, she competed in the 16th edition of the national pageant.
On September 20, 2009, she won Nuestra Belleza México in Mérida, Yucatán, defeating thirty-three other contestants. This victory made her the second consecutive winner from Jalisco, following the path of her friend Karla Carrillo. The following year, on August 23, 2010, she was named Miss Universe. This achievement marked the second time a Mexican woman had won the title.
Career and modeling
Following her crowning, Ximena traveled extensively to fulfill her duties. In February 2011, she became a spokesperson for L'Oreal Paris and Old Navy. Her travels took her to countries including China, Russia, Spain, France, India, Thailand, and Brazil.
In May 2011, she returned to Guadalajara to support Children International, a humanitarian group assisting thousands of children. She also attended events such as the Puerto Rico Golf Open and the crowning of Miss Teen USA in the Bahamas. In 2013, she entered the acting world. She was cast by Salvador Mejía in the soap opera La tempestad. Ximena starred alongside William Levy, playing a dual role as the characters Marina Reverte and Magdalena Artigas.
Personal life
Ximena Navarrete wed Juan Carlos Valladares in 2017. Their union was celebrated in a Catholic ceremony. The couple faced challenges, including a miscarriage, before welcoming a daughter in late 2021. They used assisted reproductive technology to conceive. In October 2022, the couple announced they were expecting a second child.
