Who is Aaron Paul?
Early life and education
Aaron Paul was born Aaron Paul Sturtevant in Emmett, Idaho, on August 27, 1979. He arrived a month premature in his parents' bathroom and grew up as the youngest of four children born to Darla Haynes and Baptist minister Robert Sturtevant. During his youth, he actively participated in local church plays and developed an early interest in performing arts.
He attended Centennial High School in Boise, Idaho, where he graduated in 1997. Shortly after finishing high school, he packed his belongings and drove to Los Angeles in a 1982 Toyota Corolla alongside his mother, carrying six thousand dollars in savings to pursue a professional acting career.
How Aaron became famous
Upon arriving in Los Angeles, Aaron Paul participated in the International Modeling and Talent Association competition in 1996, earning runner-up honors and signing with a manager. He initially appeared in various television commercials for brands like Juicy Fruit and Corn Pops, alongside guest spots on numerous television programs and roles in music videos.
His breakthrough arrived when he began playing Jesse Pinkman on the AMC series Breaking Bad in 2008. Although his character was originally planned to die during the first season, the strong on-screen chemistry between him and lead actor Bryan Cranston led the creator Vince Gilligan to keep him as a main character throughout the entire run of the show.

For his work on Breaking Bad, Aaron earned nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, and 2014, ultimately winning the trophy in 2010, 2012, and 2014. His extensive credits also include starring in the action film Need for Speed, portraying Caleb Nichols in the science fiction series Westworld, and playing Eddie Lane in the drama series The Path.
Family and personal life
Aaron met actress and director Lauren Parsekian at the Coachella Festival, and the couple got engaged in Paris on January 1, 2012. They married during a 1920s Parisian carnival-themed ceremony in Malibu on May 26, 2013, with musical performances by Foster the People and John Mayer.
They share two children together, a daughter born in February 2018 and a son born in April 2022 whose godfather is Bryan Cranston. In November 2022, he legally dropped his birth surname of Sturtevant so that he, his wife, and their children would all officially share the last name of Paul.
