Who is Arilena Ara?
Early life and career beginnings
Arilena Ara was born on July 17, 1998, in the city of Shkodër, Albania, growing up in an Albanian family. During her childhood, she participated in various singing and dancing competitions. She competed in the children's talent show Gjeniu i Vogël, where she finished in third place.
Her major breakthrough came on March 31, 2013, when she won the second series of X Factor Albania. Following this victory, she released her debut single, Aeroplan, in February 2014.
Rise to international success
Arilena participated in the 18th edition of the music contest Kënga Magjike with the song Nëntori in November 2016, finishing in third place. The song achieved significant commercial success abroad, peaking at number one on the Romanian Radio and TV Airplay rankings. It also reached number three in Bulgaria and number 38 in Hungary.
Remixes of the track reached the top 20 in the Commonwealth of Independent States. In 2017, Arilena performed at the Europa Plus Festival in Moscow and won the song of the year award at the Astana Dausy Music Awards in Kazakhstan.
Television work and album release
In 2019, Arilena became a juror for the third series of The Voice Kids Albania. Later that year, she won the 58th edition of Festivali i Këngës with the song Shaj. This victory led to her designation as the Albanian representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020, which was later cancelled by the European Broadcasting Union.
She released her debut studio album, Pop Art The Album, on November 6, 2021. The record featured singles such as Murderer featuring Noizy, Aligator, Thirr Policinë with Dafina Zeqiri, and her first number-one single, Ke me mungu. In April 2022, she began hosting the investigative show Piranjat.
