Who is David Hasselhoff?
Early life and education
David Michael Hasselhoff was born in Baltimore, Maryland. His father, Joseph Vincent Hasselhoff, worked as a business executive, while his mother, Dolores Theresa, was a homemaker. His ancestry includes German, English, and Irish roots, and his great-great-grandmother emigrated from the Kingdom of Hanover to Baltimore in 1865.
He spent his formative years in Jacksonville, Florida, before moving to Atlanta, Georgia. David attended the Marist School during his time in Georgia. He later graduated from Lyons Township High School in Illinois in 1970, where he was active in the choir, volleyball, and the speech team.
How David became famous
David first gained public attention through his role as Dr. Snapper Foster on the soap opera The Young and the Restless between 1975 and 1982. He also appeared in the 1974 film Revenge of the Cheerleaders, which served as his feature film debut.
His major breakthrough came when he was cast as Michael Knight in the action series Knight Rider, which ran from 1982 to 1986. This role earned him a People's Choice Award for Favorite Male Performer in a New TV Program in 1983.
