Who is Arindam Bhattacharya?
Early career and football start
Arindam Bhattacharya began his football career at Surya Sen Sporting Club in Khardah. He later joined the SAI senior team in 2006 and remained there for two years. This period preceded his move to Churchill Brothers.
He trained at the Tata Football Academy and earned a spot on the India under-19 squad following his play in the Subroto Cup. His early performances helped him secure a position with the Sports Authority of India before his tenure at Churchill Brothers.
Club highlights and achievements
During his time with Churchill Brothers, he won the Hero I-League in the 2008-09 season. He moved to Mohun Bagan for the 2012-13 season and later returned to Churchill Brothers to secure the Federation Cup in 2014. He played for FC Pune City between 2014 and 2017, making his debut against Kerala Blasters at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex.
Arindam Bhattacharya joined Bharat FC for the 2015 I-League season. In 2018, he signed with ATK and became the primary goalkeeper for the entire season. In 2020, he earned the Golden Gloves award after recording 10 clean sheets. After a contract extension with ATK Mohun Bagan, he moved to East Bengal on a free transfer in September 2021. He later spent time with NorthEast United after a training period in Spain with Marbella FC.
International career and honors
Arindam Bhattacharya represented India at various youth levels. Following his performance in the Subroto Cup, he was selected for the India U-19 team and played matches against Myanmar and Sri Lanka. He earned his debut for the India U23 team on 5 December 2009 against Afghanistan in Dhaka during the SAFF Championship.
His international honors include participating in the 2009 SAFF Championship with the India U23 side. These early international appearances established his presence on the regional football stage.
