Who is Boyd Holbrook?
Early life and background
Boyd Holbrook was born on September 1, 1981, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. He is the son of Ellen, who worked as a real estate agent, and Don Holbrook, a coal miner. He spent his youth in Harlan County, Kentucky.
After finishing high school, he held positions at a department store and the United Parcel Service. During this time, he encountered actor Michael Shannon, which prompted him to reconsider his career path and pursue acting.
Modeling career beginnings
Before focusing entirely on acting, he worked as a carpenter for the Jenny Wiley Theatre in Kentucky. This position led to his discovery in the modeling industry. In 2001, he signed with Elite Models.
His portfolio includes work with Wilhelmina Models and prominent fashion houses. Over the years, Boyd Holbrook modeled for designers such as Dior, Gucci, Versace, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, and Marc Jacobs. He was also featured in a photography exhibition titled Omahyra and Boyd by Ellen Von Unwerth.
Acting training and breakthrough
To prepare for his roles, he completed the two-year Meisner Acting Program at the William Esper Studio. He also finished a two-year voice and speech program led by Shane Ann Younts and earned an SCPS Certificate in 16mm film from New York University. He also trained with acting coach Terry Knickerbocker.
He made his acting debut in the 2008 film Milk. His breakthrough role arrived when he played DEA agent Steve Murphy in the Netflix series Narcos from 2015 to 2016.

Boyd Holbrook has an extensive list of acting credits in both film and television. His television work includes Hatfields and McCoys, The Morning Show, Justified: City Primeval, and The Sandman where he played The Corinthian.
His filmography is broad and includes roles in The Skeleton Twins, A Walk Among the Tombstones, and Little Accidents. He portrayed the antagonist Donald Pierce in the 2017 film Logan. He also appeared in Gone Girl as the character Jeff. Other well-known projects include The Predator, In the Shadow of the Moon, O.G., and Vengeance. He played Klaber in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny in 2023. Also, he has appeared in The Bikeriders and A Complete Unknown.
Personal life and art
Outside of acting, Boyd Holbrook practices photography and sculpture. He held an art show titled Iscariot at the Rare gallery in New York in 2008.
Regarding his personal life, he dated actress Elizabeth Olsen between 2012 and 2014. He later married Danish artist Tatiana Pajkovic in 2018. The couple welcomed a son in January 2018 and had a daughter in November 2024.
