Who is Brian Austin Green?
Early life and real name
Brian Green was born in Van Nuys, California, on July 15, 1973. He is the son of Joyce and George Green. His heritage includes both Jewish and Scottish ancestry.
As a child performer, he needed to distinguish himself from another actor registered with the Screen Actors Guild. Consequently, he added the name Austin to his professional moniker. He attended North Hollywood High School and Alexander Hamilton High School to further his education.
Rise to fame and television career
Before his most famous role, he appeared as Brian Cunningham on the soap opera Knots Landing between 1986 and 1989. He also took a part in the 1987 pilot for the show Good Morning, Miss Bliss.
His breakthrough came when he was cast as David Silver on Beverly Hills, 90210. Producer Aaron Spelling selected him for this role because their personalities were similar. The show ran from 1990 until 2000, and the writers often incorporated his personal interests into the character's storyline. This included the character exploring hip hop music and DJing, just as Brian Austin Green was doing in his own life during the 1990s.

Brian Austin Green has maintained a busy schedule with guest spots and reality competition appearances. He portrayed Metallo in the series Smallville across several episodes starting in 2009. In 2010, he held a multi-episode arc on Desperate Housewives as the contractor Keith Watson. He also participated in the 2019 reboot titled BH90210, where the original cast played fictionalized versions of themselves.
