Who is Brian McFadden?
Early life and initial career
Brian McFadden was born in Dublin, Ireland, and was raised in the Catholic faith. During his childhood, he showed an early interest in dancing, football, and singing. He attended the Billie Barry Stage School in his home city alongside his sister, Susan. This training helped him secure various roles in television, including a comedic part in the Irish series Finbar's Class.
Rise to fame with Westlife
In June 1998, Brian McFadden auditioned for the boy band Westlife. He joined the group alongside members Kian Egan, Mark Feehily, Shane Filan, and Nicky Byrne. Upon joining, he briefly changed the spelling of his first name to Bryan to simplify signing autographs for fans. The group operated under the management of Simon Cowell.
Solo music projects
After leaving the group, he signed a contract with Sony BMG. His first solo single, Real to Me, reached the top spot in several countries, including Britain and Ireland. He released his debut solo studio album, titled Irish Son, in November 2004. He collaborated with songwriter Guy Chambers on much of this project. In 2016, he formed a duo called Boyzlife with Keith Duffy of the boy band Boyzone. The two musicians have toured together and recorded studio material. In 2020, they released an album titled Strings Attached. They followed this with a second studio album, Old School, which was released in 2022 and reached the UK Albums Chart. The pair continued to release music together into 2025.
