Who is Can Yaman?
Early life and education
Can Yaman was born on November 8, 1989, in Istanbul, Turkey. He attended Bilfen College for primary school and later studied at the Liceo Italiano di Istanbul, where he finished as a top student. He is of Albanian origin on his father side, with his paternal grandfather growing up in Pristina and his paternal grandmother in Skopje. He is also the nephew of football coach Fuat Yaman.
In 2012, Can graduated from the Law Department of Yeditepe University. He began working at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he met his current law firm partners. By the age of twenty-four, he was working in mergers and acquisitions and writing articles for the tax section of Dünya newspaper. While on summer leave from work, he travelled to Bodrum and met his eventual acting managers, Cüneyt Sayıl and İlker Bilgi.
Acting career highlights
Can started his acting career in 2014 by appearing in the series Gönül İşleri. He subsequently starred in İnadına Aşk in 2015 and Hangimiz Sevmedik in 2016. His major career breakthrough occurred in 2017 when he starred in the television series Dolunay.
From 2018 to 2019, he played the lead role in the romantic comedy series Erkenci Kuş. For his performance in this show, he received a Golden Butterfly Award for Best Actor in a Romantic Comedy in 2018, followed by a Murex d'Or award in 2019. He later starred as the lead in the short series Bay Yanlış, which premiered on FOX in June 2020 and earned him a nomination at the LATAM PRODU Awards.
International projects and awards
In December 2020, Can signed an agreement with the Italian production company Lux Vide for the series Sandokan. He also made a guest appearance in the series Che Dio ci aiuti in March 2021 and later played Francesco Demir in the series Viola come le mare. In the winter of 2022, he filmed the international series El Turco.
Can has received several honors throughout his career, including the seventh GQ Man of the Year Award in 2019. He also won international awards for his charitable initiatives and became the face of the Turkish clothing brand TUDORS in 2020.
