Who is Connor Swindells?
Early life
Connor Ryan Swindells was born on September 19, 1996, in Lewes, United Kingdom. He grew up as the youngest of four boys in his family with his parents Ian and Phoebe. His mother was of Romani descent and passed away from bowel cancer when he was seven years old. Following this loss, he moved in with his paternal grandparents in West Chiltington before relocating to Billingshurst within the Horsham District of West Sussex.
For his education, Connor Swindells went to Rydon Community College and Steyning Grammar School. He ultimately chose to drop out of college when he reached seventeen years of age to pursue other paths.
Acting career
Connor Swindells began his acting path after a friend dared him to audition for a local play poster. He secured the lead role, performed in two more local productions, and subsequently signed with an agent. In 2017, he made his television debut with guest roles in the Hulu period drama Harlots as Mostyn and the Sky One historical drama Jamestown as Fletcher.
During March 2017, he joined the cast of the Scottish psychological thriller film The Vanishing directed by Kristoffer Nyholm. The project screened at the Sitges Film Festival before its theatrical debut in January 2019. He also portrayed Adam in the 2018 drama film VS.
Breakthrough roles
In 2019, Connor Swindells started starring as Adam Groff in the Netflix comedy drama series Sex Education alongside Ncuti Gatwa, Emma Mackey, Asa Butterfield, and Gillian Anderson. He continued this role through 2023. He also appeared in the films Emma in 2020 and Barbarians in 2021, while playing Simon Hadlow in the BBC One crime drama Vigil.
He took on the lead role of David Stirling in the BBC One World War II series SAS: Rogue Heroes starting in 2022. Later, he appeared in Greta Gerwig's Barbie film alongside several of his former Sex Education cast members.
Recent projects
In 2024, Connor Swindells portrayed Jae Donnelly in the Netflix film Scoop and played Gessler in the movie William Tell. He then appeared as DS Ed McCusker in the Lockerbie based miniseries titled The Bombing of Pan Am 103, which was released in 2025.
His filmography also includes a role in the movie Jingle Bell Heist, adding to his growing list of screen credits across both television and cinema productions.

Connor Swindells married actress Amber Anderson in 2024. The ceremony took place in the Scottish Highlands. Interestingly, Alistair Petrie, who played his on screen father in Sex Education, officiated their wedding.
