Who is Erika Eleniak?
Early life and background
Erika Maya Eleniak was born in Glendale, California. Her father moved to the Los Angeles area from Canada to pursue a career in the film industry. One of her ancestors, Wasyl Eleniak, was a pioneer who helped start Ukrainian immigration to Canada during the late nineteenth century.
Erika attended Van Nuys High School. Her initial professional experience in front of the camera began at a young age. At twelve years old, she secured a small part in the 1982 film E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. She appeared in the classroom scene as the girl who shares a kiss with the character Elliott Taylor.
Rise to fame and television roles
In 1989, Erika appeared as a model in Playboy magazine, earning the title of Playmate of the Month for July of that year. This exposure coincided with her transition into more prominent acting roles. She joined the cast of the television series Charles in Charge, playing the character Stephanie Curtis.
Her most recognized television role followed shortly after when she was cast as Shauni McClain on the show Baywatch. She portrayed this lead character from 1989 until 1992. During this period, she also guest-starred on an episode of Full House as Carrie, the high school girlfriend of Jesse Katsopolis. Later, in 2005, she appeared on the reality television program The Real Gilligan's Island.
Film career and projects
Erika Eleniak moved back into film acting with the 1988 horror movie The Blob, where she played the character Vicki De Soto. She continued her film work in 1992 with a role in Under Siege, appearing as a character named Jordan Tate. She portrayed the lead role of Elly May Clampett in the 1993 screen adaptation of The Beverly Hillbillies.
Her filmography includes various other projects throughout the 1990s. She starred in the 1995 film Girl in the Cadillac and voiced the characters Jamie and Janie in the interactive video game Panic in the Park. Throughout her career, she has consistently worked in various independent films and television productions.
Personal life and health
Erika once experienced health challenges regarding her weight. She previously dealt with an eating disorder and was hospitalized due to complications from laxative abuse. By 2006, she faced challenges with being overweight and appeared on the VH1 program Celebrity Fit Club to address her fitness goals.
Regarding her personal relationships, she was once engaged to Billy Warlock, her co-star from Baywatch. She married bodybuilder Philip Goglia in 1998, though the pair divorced six months later. Following her work on the film Snowbound in 2001, she relocated to Calgary, Alberta, where she met and married a key grip named Roch Daigle. After experiencing an ectopic pregnancy in 2005 that resulted in a miscarriage, she later became pregnant again and gave birth to a daughter.
