Who is Getter Jaani?
Early life and education
Getter Jaani was born and raised in Tallinn, Estonia. She grew up with both Estonian and Russian ancestry.
In 2015, she completed her studies at a night school and received a high school diploma.
Rise to fame and television work
Getter Jaani first became publicly known in Estonia in 2009 by participating in the third season of Eesti otsib superstaari, which is the local version of Pop Idol. She finished in fourth place during the competition.
Her performance on the show led to her casting as Sharpay Evans in the local version of High School Musical. Later that year, she also appeared as a celebrity contestant on the dance competition series Tantsud tähtedega.
Eurovision and musical theatre
Getter Jaani represented Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 with the pop song Rockefeller Street. Her entry finished in 24th place during the grand final.
She later returned to the Eurovision stage in 2012 to present the voting scores on behalf of Estonia from Baku, Azerbaijan. In 2013, she expanded her stage career by taking on the role of Sandy in a production of the musical Grease.
